Car Accidents: What Should You Do If You Are in a Michigan Auto Accident?Michigan law regarding injuries from auto accidents can be complicated. There are no-fault issues, property damage limitation, coordinated benefits, arisa and threshold issues. Even a lawyer can get frustrated. While I can’t tell you everything you need to know tonight, I can give you a few simple things to remember. If you’re going to drive a car that you own, make sure it’s insured. If you’re involved in an accident and you’re injured, file an application for no-fault benefits as soon as you can. Remember, your automobile insurance should be reviewed every single year. Make sure you have both uninsured and underinsured coverage. Call a lawyer. The insurance industry’s own research shows that people who are represented by a lawyer get larger settlements. So remember, while the law may seem confusing, getting help and getting an advantage is easy. For this week’s “It’s A Matter of Law,” I’m Mark Bernstein, putting the law on your side. |
