Commitment to CommunityI’m attorney Richard Bernstein. Community activism… community involvement… that’s the reason why I became a lawyer. It makes me proud to work in the law firm that I work in. It’s that mindset, it’s that belief, which governs our firm’s priorities, which governs who we are and what we stand for. I am proud to be a part of a law firm which took on the City of Detroit to fight for wheelchair users, so that they could have the right to access public transportation, to go to their jobs, to go shopping, and to have a basic quality of life. I am proud to be a part of a law firm which allowed for me to take time off and travel the state of Michigan, fighting to protect special education programs and services on a statewide basis. As a statewide elected official, it gives me great pride to serve on the Wayne State University Board of Governors, in addition to being a member of the faculty at the University of Michigan. Also, our firm sponsors a television series, which highlights individuals and organizations that are making a difference in our community. We try to represent and focus on people that you might not have heard of, or that you don’t know much about. By putting them on television, we believe that creating awareness breeds understanding.
