Truck Accidents: What Should You Do If You Are in a Michigan Truck Accident?

A truck accident is a terrible experience. Trucks are moving at a high rate of speed, they are heavy, they collide with other vehicles and other objects with very strong force.

Our office talks to hundreds of people every year who have been involved in serious, catastrophic truck accidents.

What I want to talk today about very briefly, is what to do if you have been involved in a truck accident, or if you are involved in the future in a truck accident.

Most importantly, move the vehicles to safety if that is at all possible. Move to the shoulder of the road, move to a parking lot, a location where you can get out of harm's way.

Secondly, if somebody is hurt, contact 911 immediately. Contact the police immediately in order to get to medical care if it’s an urgent situation.

Third, exchange information with all the parties involved, including people who may have observed this accident. Witnesses may be very important as you proceed with a potential claim to protect your legal rights. Get their names, get their phone numbers, get their addresses, get insurance information, and get license plate information of all the vehicles that have been involved.

That will be very important as you move forward in protecting your legal rights.

Our office handles serious and catastrophic truck accident cases. If you have been in a truck accident and you want to protect your legal rights and learn a little about what your rights are, don’t hesitate to contact our office.
